Lynx and HP LTO-5 - Available in April

HP and Lynx will be releasing LTO-5 in April, providing the next step up in capacity and performance.

Key drive specifications:

• SAS only interface
• Half-height and full-height versions
• 1.5TB native capacity
• 140MB/sec (500GB/hr) native performance
• Hardware data encryption
• Read / write compatible with LTO-4 media, read compatible with LTO-3 media
• Rack-mount options will also be immediately available

• Real Time Data Rate Matching (dynamic real time speed adjustments every 1ms down to 1/3 of its rated performance)
• Patented and award-winning "Radius Roller" design to ensure maximum tape guidance without any edge damage

LTO-5 will provide a new solution to those end-users who have a requirement for large capacity per tape backup, and have the level of infrastructure to realise the performance increases the drive can provide. Alternatively, LTO-5 presents a uniquely cost effective archiving platform.
