Description
DDS technology was first developed in 1989 and has developed into the single most prominent tape technology in history.
Having evolved from DDS-1 to DAT160, the technology itself has progressively evolved.
The commitment as stipulated by the DDS Manufactures Group (who oversee the DDS Open Standard) is for 2 generations
of backward compatibility. That is, backward read and write compatibility for 2 generations.

exceptional build quality, reliable firmware and is one of the principle founders of the DDS standard. Together, Lynx

Advanced Sequence Detection (ASD)
|
|
|
Whilst the DDS format has several levels of error correction within firmware, a better approach is to have
highly accurate decoding at the front of the read chain. Here we have introduced Advanced Sequence Detection -
a patent pending system that provides a Ten Times improvement in raw error rate compared to a simple Viberti
detector (used in competing products). ASD takes advantage of certain characteristics of the DDS-4 formats
standard 8/10 group-code and trellis schemes to create the very best read channel technology in the industry.

Real-Time Adaptive Filtering
|
|
|
Real-time adaptive filtering is made possible by use of a Feed Forward Equalizer (FFE) that continually
adjusts the write channel during the life of the drive and media, and on one media type to another, thus
allowing maximum margin for recording and restore. Basically, if a Lynx DDS-4 drive cannot read the data -
nothing can.

Side-cut heads
|
|
|
This technology has been introduced to give cleaner definitions to the edges of tracks. The use of side-cut
heads ensures that almost 100% of the track width is adjustable. Pioneering mathematical and magnetic modeling
carried out by HP Laboratories in England ensured that the design was proven before head production even
started.

Three stage self-cleaning system
|
|
|
Our in-built cleaning system features an automatic brush type drum cleaner, a sapphire blade tape cleaner,
and a capstan cleaner. This three-stage system is more effective in removing debris from critical
components.
